Photo Etched Optical Encoder Discs for Precision Positioning

PHOTOFABRICATION ENGINEERING, INC. (PEI), Milford, MA (January 31, 2011) is offering a full line of photoetched optical encoder discs for industrial, military and aerospace applications which require precision positioning.  These stiff discs with radial slits are available in a wide variety of line counts, tracks, and materials including stainless steel, nickel, and beryllium copper; they can also be blackened to make them anti-reflective in light-sensitive applications.

PEI is able to provide encoder discs with extremely small slot resolution (line widths as small as 0.004 in [0.10 mm], in a wide range of thickinesses depending on the encoder specifications.  Tolerances can typically be held within 10% of the material thickness.

Because PEI makes its own phototools in-house and uses a chemical photoetching process, we can manufacture highly-accurate optical encoders with exact repeatability from one slot to the next.  Our turn-around times are outstanding: typical delivery is three weeks from receipt of order and customer prints.  All parts are burr-free and stress-free to ensure longer life and greater reading accuracy.  Anvil mounting is available as well.

PEI's manufacturing process has achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification and also complies with MIL-I-45208 standards.  We can supply prototypes that meet customer specifications, or our Custom Engineering Department can help customers design products that meet their specific encoder requirements.
