Titanium For Fuel Cells & Oxygen Generators

PEI can now photoetch pure titanium for use in cathodes and anodes in fuel cells, oxygen generators, and hydrogen generators. Using PEI’s proprietary process, titanium can be chemically etched without inducing the stresses common to machining, allowing it to be friction-bonded or brazed. PEI is able to etch pure titanium in a wide range of sizes from extremely thin (0.0005 in.) to extremely thick (0.090 in.), and our process results in an exceptionally smooth surface.

Titanium fuel cells, oxygen generators and hydrogen generators represent a giant step in the development of clean energy technology. Used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical systems and biotechnology, wastewater treatment and pulp and paper (bleaching) and aquaculture, these products are becoming increasingly cost-effective as well as environmentally desirable. PEI’s unique ability to produce light-weight photoetched titanium parts in production quantities will allow manufacturers to meet high-volume, low-cost manufacturing goals to accelerate the commercial viability of fuel cells as well as oxygen and hydrogen generators, as mandated by the U.S. Energy Department.

PEI, with the most extensive photo-etching capabilities in the world, ofFers manufacturers a complete turnkey operation, including photo tool-making, plating, and forming. Because all processes are performed in-house, we offer quick turnaround at competitive prices. Our manufacturing process has achieved ISO-9002 certification and also complies with MIL-I-45208 standards.
