Safe Precision Parts From Beryllium Copper

Manufacturers who need precision parts fabricated from beryllium copper face the daunting task of protecting their employees from the serious health hazards created by beryllia dust.

To address this problem, PEI has developed a proprietary process for etching beryllium copper parts to meet even the most demanding customer requirements. No other manufacturing process (stamping, machining, or cutting) can produce beryllium copper parts as safely as PEls photochemical etching process. Yet photo etching provides greater tolerance control for elaborate parts, while offering customers faster delivery times and lower costs than other fabricating processes. PEl can etch beryllium copper in thicknesses ITom 0.0005 in. to 0.090 in. (0.0127 mm to 2.286 mm).

Because of the unique physical properties of beryllium copper, it is particularly suitable for applications requiring exceptional hardness, strength, self-lubrication, and good thermal and electrical conductivity. Applications for beryllium copper parts include springs, slides, contacts, heat sinks, lead ITames, and heat shields for the electronics, automotive, medical, and aerospace industries.
