PEI's RF/EMI shields are designed to protect components from radio frequency / electromagnetic interference and environmental hazards and to provide electrical grounding. Applications for PEI's line of shielding products include aerospace, defense, and commercial electronics communications equipment; medical and biomedical equipment; and appliances.

This is the most basic, inexpensive form of shield. It is available with surface-mount or through-hole construction. The shield can be hand-folded by PEI or by the customer. It can be attached quickly and easily either through the board or surface-mounted. Customers have total flexibility and can add or change anything on the shield to suit their needs with minimal artwork costs.

PEI's patented "Easy Access" RF Shield is similar to the Basic One-Piece Shield option. This shield incorporates an etched slot that is straight or staggered to minimize RF leakage. The tab connecting the lid to the RF shield can be easily snipped for access, then re-soldered in seconds, minimizing downtime. Covers are manufactured from SAE1010 with solder plating, and can be bent several times without fracturing. PEI's patented CDW is etched on one side to allow the cover to be raised and lowered without the metal fatigue problems found in brass and copper - in fact, SAE1010 has a 50% longer life. Our engineering department will incorporate our patented removable cover into your existing shield design at no charge for either the tooling or the engineering.

In two-piece construction, the cover can be placed over tabs and the tabs can be formed down to hold the cover in place on the fence. The tabs can be bent back up to remove the cover and allow access to the components.
